The Brief

Action for Children wanted to pivot their annual charity sleep out event to a digital ‘sleep in your garden’ event, taking place across the UK, raising money to prevent youth homelessness. The brief was to manage the live recordings including all tech production and create a great experience for all the participants.

The Idea

The event was split into 2 sections, running from 6-8pm for family fun, and then from 8.30-11pm for the grown-ups. We worked with Action for Children to embed the features of our digital event platform into their existing website, including broadcast video along with audience interaction with live polls and chat along with our dedicated WhatsApp support pop-up.

We provided the venue, set production, as well as the delivery of the technical production both onsite, working with hosts Anthea Turner and Olivia Cox, and three additional live remote hosts - mixed together with a range of VT's, Overlays and Lower Third graphics. As part of the broadcast production we sent out remote production kits to the celebrities that were taking part around the UK. We also created animated transitions to use during the livestream to break up the segments.

The Result

The event was a success, with 4236 people taking part and raising £227,871 to keep supporting vulnerable children and their families across the UK.
